Hotel Arequipa
7:30 am
We will pick you up from your hotel in Arequipa between 7:30 AM and 8:00 AM. The journey to the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest and most beautiful canyons in the world, begins promptly at 8:00 AM. Our route takes us through Pampa Cañahuas, where we will observe wild vicuñas in their natural habitat.
The next stop is Patahuasi, where we will enjoy a traditional Mate de coca, essential for preventing altitude sickness. As we ascend, we will reach the highest point of our trip at the Volcanoes’ Viewpoint. It stands at an impressive 15,748 feet above sea level (4,800 meters).
We will arrive in the town of Chivay around noon, where a delicious local lunch awaits. After lunch, we will check into our hotel.
The afternoon is yours to relax in the La Calera hot springs. Here, the water temperature ranges from 95°F to 100°F (35°C to 38°C). The day ends with a peaceful night’s stay in Chivay.
After breakfast at the hotel, we will depart for the Cruz del Condor viewpoint, a 30-minute drive away. This spot offers the most dramatic views of the Colca Canyon. Here, we will spend about 45 minutes marveling at the canyon’s depth and the spectacular flight of the Andean condors.
Following this exhilarating experience, we return to Chivay for lunch. Post-lunch, we will begin our journey back to Arequipa. This scenic drive marks the conclusion of our unforgettable two-day trip, filled with natural wonders and Andean culture.
